The second of the Niyamas (Observances) is Santosha, also known as Contentment or Equanimity. This week, consider how you might cultivate contentment in your life. One of my favorite equanimity-building practices is writing a daily list of gratitudes. Usually just before bedtime, I pull out my journal and jot down a list of 5 things for which I feel gratitude in that moment. Depending on how tired I am, I might write a paragraph for each item — or I might write just one word. Either way, I love the feeling of heading toward sleep with these positive thoughts in mind!
