As we consider and reconsider our values and priorities, sometimes it can be helpful to observe or study a mentor. We might even “try on” different ways of being to see if they suit us. But ultimately, we must exercise clear awareness in order to discern the way of being that best expresses our authentic self. The authentic self allows us to fulfill our purpose, to fully utilize our strengths. Mindful awareness allows us to discern what is extra, what no longer “fits” the self we are becoming, so that we can shed unnecessary, unhelpful layers. The choice is mine whether to be a complicated fake or to simply be who I am! The task of identifying and shedding layers may be complicated, but the lightness of being just yourself is worth the effort!
