Body Wisdom: Reacquainting

Sometimes, we lose the mind-body connection. Maybe you are just too busy, either with necessary or unimportant activity. Maybe you feel distracted. Or sometimes the disconnection is our mind’s technique for coping with trauma. Whatever the cause of our detachment from body awareness, in that state we miss out on the inherent wisdom of the body. If we really listen to the body and to our gut instincts, we often gain critical information that can help us be safe,  care for ourselves and  thrive! This summer, consider turning your practice toward growing the mind-body connection in order to access body wisdom. How can you bring awareness to your body — and then really listen to what it’s telling you?

We’ll be exploring these questions during our practices this summer. Consider Danna Fauld’s poem as you begin this exploration:

Go In and In

Go in and in.
Be the space
between two cells,
the vast resounding
silence in which spirit dwells.
Be sugar dissolving on
the tongue of life.

Dive in and in,
As deep as you can dive.
Be infinite, ecstatic truth.
Be love conceived and born in union.

Be exactly what you seek,
the Beloved, singing Yes,
tasting Yes, embracing Yes,
until there is only essence;
the All of Everything
expressing through you
as you.

Go in and in and turn
away from nothing that
you find.
