IMG_2173Like so many things, Yoga Borealis’s class schedule changes with the seasons. Here is a summary of our current schedule and the calendar (scroll down). For descriptions of these and other classes we offer, see the Classes page.

Summer 2017 Yoga Classes & Events

Yoga Classes at Alger Parks & Recreation Department
  • Mixed Level Yoga (1.25 hours, Tuesdays 6:00 -7:15 p.m.) (Register through APRD) Session: Jun 27; July 11, 18, 25; Aug 1, 15, 22, 29.
  • Saturday Yoga (1.25 hours, Saturday 10:30-11:45 a.m.) (Register through APRD) Session: Jun 24; Jul 1, 15, 29; Aug 26. (August 12 class cancelled/rescheduled due to conflict with APRD Yoga/Bike/Brew event (see trailing).)
Other Upcoming Yoga Events through YogaBorealis
  • APRD Yoga/Bike/Brew (@ APRD, August 12, 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.)  APRD is hosting this event to support improvements to the yoga room. Join APRD for a fun bike ride, then beach yoga, and then biking to a local brewpub for the beverage of your choice.
  • Impromptu Beach Yoga (@ Munising, July 5, 2017, 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. (please arrive at least 10 minutes early to walk to beach and set up). We will practice at the portion of Sandpoint Beach near the culdesac at the very end of Sandpoint Road. If the weather forecast changes for the worse, I will post cancellation on the Facebook event and here — so if you are wondering, check one of those two places. No fee will be charge (donations welcome). Hope to see you there!
  • Summer Solstice Sunrise Meditation (June 21, 5:30 a.m. – 6:30 a.m. @ AuTrain Beach.) No registration required.
  • International Yoga Day Event (June 21, 6:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m @ Local Beach.) Celebrate the solstice with a sun salute practice! No registration required. 
  • Informal Saturday Beach Meditation/Yoga gatherings.  Sign up for our mailing list to receive information! No registration required.
  • Munising Bay Meditation Circle – A mindfulness meditation community.  Come practice with us, Saturdays* 9:30 a.m. to 10:20 a.m.  We practice primarily in the Vipassana sitting tradition, and also walking meditation and other styles.   *Meditation Circle only held if there is yoga scheduled at APRD on a given Saturday. If no yoga, then no meditation.

Winter 2017

  • Intro to Mindfulness Meditation (5 hours (spread out over five 1-hour sessions), Saturdays 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.) (Register through APRD) Feb 11,18,25; Mar 7, 14.  In this series of five classes, each class will build upon the previous one as students learn the basics of mindfulness meditation through guided practice.
  • Basic Yoga (1.25 hours, Tuesday 5:30-6:45 p.m.) Session 1: Jan 24; Feb 7, 14, 21, 28; Mar 7, 14. Session 2: Mar 21, 28; Apr 4, 11, 18, 25; May 2, 9, 16. In this basic level class, students practice basic yoga poses, sun salute, moon salute, basic breathing techniques and short meditation.
  • Moderate Yoga (1.5 hours, Tuesday 7:00-8:30 p.m.) Session 1: Jan 24; Feb 7, 14, 21, 28; Mar 7, 14. Session 2: Mar 21, 28; Apr 4, 11, 18, 25; May 2, 9, 16.  This more energetic class includes flow, longer holding and a range of breathing techniques and meditation practices.
  • Saturday Mixed Level Drop-In Yoga (1 hour, 10:30-11:30 a.m.) Session 1: Jan 21, 28; Feb 11, 18, 25; Mar 4, 11, 18. Session 2: Mar 25; Apr 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; May 6, 13. This more energetic class includes flow, longer holding and a range of breathing techniques and meditation practices.
  • Munising Bay Mindfulness Meditation Circle (55 minutes, Saturdays, 9:30 a.m. – 10:25 a.m. Meets on days when Saturday yoga class above is held.) Not a class, this informal group of practitioners meets for seated and walking meditation practice.  Explores bringing mindfulness into daily life.  Minimal instruction is provided. Join us!
